To conclude our country is in big trouble is little more than a gross understatement.

What's ongoing is pure political theater or a shadow of charades or Kabuki. As our government debt skyrockets, President Barack Obama threatens to do this or that and the two chambers of Congress seek to paralyze one another. Meanwhile the United States edges ever closer to the brink of economic insolvency. 

It's time, my fellow Americans, to stand up and ensure your congressmen and women know of your concern. It's also time for us to share not only our concerns but to give considerable thought to what we think should be done about it or them. 

I have written before about thinking out of the box. It's not what I see as embraced by a great many of our politicians. Actions by those elected to public office primarily go through a political filter. How is this vote going to go down in my state or district, county or municipality? Can it cause me a major problem? Will it impact adversely on my re-election? How seriously? Dare I go against the party or my leadership? How much traction will this cost me in support? To too many pols, this is in the range of considerations before the positive or adverse effect it will have as one's constituency comes to the fore. There are exceptions. Sen. Marco Rubio and our Congressman Richard Nugent are both out of the gate and demonstrating what it takes to be two more of those exceptions. 

What is thinking out of the box? Simply, it's not giving in to the conventional.
