(WASHINGTON, D.C.) –Following the release of the final report from the Wartime Contracting Commission, Rep. Rich Nugent (FL-05) issued the following statement.:

“I don’t know about everybody else, but I’m pretty disgusted with the news that one out of every four dollars paid to wartime contractors over nearly a decade has been wasted or misspent.  That is inexcusable on so many levels.

“Defense money needs to be going to help improve troop readiness and security.  Waste isn’t helping them complete their mission safely and successfully.

“The commission says we need a permanent inspector general to investigate federal contracts and I’d have a hard time disagreeing with that.   I got pretty revved up about $383,000 in stimulus money that was apparently wasted by the Pasco County Housing Authority and that pales in comparison.  This is big money and the waste needs to stop.”
